I am not a hardcore gamer but I do play games a lot. I don’t play a lot of games but when I fall in love with a game I tend to play it a lot. I’ve spent countless hours in front of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and its expansion pack. Numerous hours have been devoted to closing the oblivion gates of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Right now, due to being confined to the comfort of my couch and my Xbox 360 because of a severe cold, I am investing my days in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Bethesda’s latest masterpiece has sucked me in so deep that I find myself skipping meals and hours of sleep.
I love that game. Playing it makes me feel better. Well, at least it makes me forget about the constant coughing and the running nose. It’s easy to lose yourself in the beauty of the landscape. It’s not hard to become invested in the epic story line either. There are dragons flying by, a civil war is going on, ancient magic is returning to a desperate world where morals and faith in the old ways are mostly in ruins. Betrayal, lies, assassinations and world/guild domination plots are all over the place. Have I mentioned that there a dragons? Lots of them? There are also an advanced and very addictive crafting system, lots of side quests and guilds and factions to join and an easy gameplay that’s just challenging enough at the right times and places so that you don’t get frustrated or bored.
If I were Matrix’s Morpheus I’d say: “Noone can tell you what Skyrim really is, you have to play it for yourself.” Do play and enjoy.
